2/28/2014 Leadership infographic decision mapI love infographics. For both the beauty of the design and the amount of information provided. Infographic turned eLearning interaction challenge...I'm THERE. Introducing eLearning Heroes Challenge #23. The challenge tasked users with turning a leadership style infographic/decision map into an eLearning course. The infographic provided me with beautifully drawn graphics of the leadership styles. Since the graphics were black and white pen-like drawings of the example leaders, my design needed to reflect that simplicity. I went with a grey chalkboard background with beautiful yellow accents to pop on the grey.
At the very beginning of the course, I wanted the user to predict which leadership style they identify with. The end of the course gives the user the opportunity to learn more about the specific leadership style. The hardest part of creating this course was likely following the decision tree to find all of the potential answers for a particular question in order to branch them properly to a new question depending on the previous answer. The final course is probably one of my favorite designs that I've created thus far. Here's the final product. Click on the image to see the full course.

Hi Kimberly, I am relatively new to Storyline so when I saw your Leadership Style Challenge, I was really impressed and inspired. My favourite aspect was how the learner was asked to guess up front which style they were. I felt this added that extra bit of motivation to move them along until the very end. The line drawings you chose were quite clever and the writing style was reinforced by your font and colour choices. Well done! Is there any way you could send me the Storyline file? I see so much potential in this and it would save me time. Thanks again for sharing! Adriana

I am working on a leadership branching scenario project and would love to see the actual decision tree you used for this Leadership Style Challenge. I am creating something similar, but would not use your design graphics. I would also not use your questions in the exact wording. Comments are closed.
